ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount women's lacrosse bounced back after two tough losses Saturday afternoon, taking down the Eagles of Bridgewater College in yet another non-conference matchup in the early part of the season.
The win puts the Saints back at .500, 3-3 overall, ahead of Atlantic East play right around the corner.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bridgewater got out to a quick 2-0 lead with back-to-back unanswered goals in the first five minutes of action.
- The Saints cut the lead in half at the 10:35 mark, with Arayla Garcia sinking a goal off a pass from Megan Edens to get MU on the board.
- Taylor Chepren tied up the contest with a man-up goal at the 8:07 mark in the first quarter.
- The Saints took their first lead of the day with a goal from Natalia Ortiz in free position fashion to put the score at 3-2.
- The Eagles sank one more in the first to even up the tally, sending the game to the second quarter knotted up at three apiece.
- Ella Baker and Tess Valentino went back-to-back to open up the second quarter to give the Saints a 5-3 lead.
- After a Bridgewater goal to cut the Saints' lead in half, Baker found Garcia with an open look to retake their two-goal lead.
- The Saints sank four unanswered goals to finish off the half, highlighted by Kaylee Heath getting in the goal column, to take a 10-7 lead into intermission.
- It was back-and-forth throughout the third quarter, with both teams firing off shots consistently. With Riley Love finding Valentino to finish off the scoring of the quarter, the Saints were looking at a 16-11 lead heading into the fourth-and-final quarter.
- Despite Bridgewater finding the back of the net twice to open the fourth, the Saints went on to finish off the win with five unanswered goals, completed by an unassisted goal from Jillian Blair.
- Baker led the scoring for the Saints, notching five total goals on the day with an assist.
- Love had two goals and two assists for four total points.
- Edens had two assists, three ground balls, and a caused turnover.
- Heath had three goals and an assist for four points.
- Chepren had two goals and an assist with a ground ball.
- On top of her three goals, Garcia added nine draws in the win.
- Abby Dunn had seven draw controls with three ground balls.
- Ortiz added a caused turnover with her goal.
- Hannah Smith earned the win in the goal with six total saves.

- The Saints will take on Washington and Jefferson College next Wednesday at 4 PM.
