ARLINGTON – A 7-6 halftime deficit turned into a 17-8 victory for Marymount men's lacrosse on Saturday as the Saints dominated the second half to pick up their second win of the season.
NOTABLE
- Bryan Maguire continued to excel on the offensive end, putting up four goals and three assists.
- Gavin Taylorson added two goals and four assists.
- Santino Rossitto ripped off four goals, including a behind-the-back tally that really opened up the scoring in the fourth quarter.
- Marymount once again performed well in extra man opportunities, cashing in on 4-of-6 of its opportunities while not allowing anything in man-down situations, holding Westminster to 0-of-5 on EMOs.
- Defensively, Jack Mattimore had two caused turnovers and scooped three ground balls. In the net, Jacob Brooks nabbed 16 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Seven goals were scored in a frantic first four minutes of action. When the dust settled, Westminster held an early 4-3 advantage.
- Marymount drew even with a goal from Maguire with 7:26 left in the first half, but the Titans went into halftime with a 7-6 lead thanks to a goal with 1:42 remaining.
- The momentum completely shifted after halftime as the Saints outscored Westminster 11-1 in the second half.
- Goals from Maguire and Ciaran Connolly (2G, 1A) in a six-second span gave Marymount a 10-7 lead with 8:08 left in the third quarter and forced a Westminster timeout.
- Marymount closed the door on the victory with six unanswered goals in the final frame to win, 17-8.
- Rounding out the goal scorers for Marymount were Chris Bochilo (2G, 3A), Paul Vey (2G), and Parker King (1G).
