Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Rally Falls Just Short for Men’s Lacrosse

ARLINGTON – After rallying from four goals down in the third quarter to take its first lead of the game with less than five minutes left, Marymount men's lacrosse surrendered two goals in the final 3:09 to fall to Shenandoah on Wednesday night, 10-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Shenandoah started out hot with three goals in the first three minutes to take an early lead.
  • Ciaran Connolly scored the first of his three goals on the night to stop the Shenandoah run with 10:44 left in the first period.
  • Chris Bochilo put one in the back of the net with 9:35 left in the second quarter.
  • Both defenses tightened up in the second period as the Hornets went into halftime with a 5-2 lead.
  • After Shenandoah took a 7-3 lead with 11:06 left in the third period, Marymount got to work.
  • Ian Fructuoso scored twice and then Paul Vey and Bryan Maguire scored on assists from Gavin Taylorson and Tyler Price to tie the game at 7-7 with 2:01 left in the third period.
  • After Shenandoah scored early in the fourth period to jump back ahead, Mason Vandawater ripped a shot to tie it back up with 8:52 left.
  • Things looked good for Marymount after Connolly gave the Saints their first lead of the game with 4:41 left.
  • Shenandoah tied things up on a goal with 3:09 left.
  • Marymount won the ensuing faceoff but couldn't generate a quality scoring chance, which led to a clear from the Hornets and the eventual game-winner on the other end with 1:09 remaining in the game.
  • Marymount's defense was solid as it held Shenandoah to just 19-of-26 on clear attempts while the Saints finished 21-of-23 on clear attempts.
  • On extra-man opportunities, Marymount held Shenandoah to 1-of-3, including a big stop on a one-minute penalty with the game tied late in the fourth.
  • Jack Mattimore had three caused turnovers and three ground balls to lead the defense.
  • In his first start of the season, Jacob Brooks settled in and recorded 13 saves between the pipes.
