Softball Drops First Doubleheader of the Season

ASHLAND, VA -- Marymount softball dropped their first doubleheader of the 2024 season, on the road. They faced Randolph-Macon College at Carol Estes Park, with a score of 0-5 for the first game and 1-6 for the second game. 

NOTABLE
  • Bailey Demusz pitched 4.0 innings in the first game. She only allowed two earned runs while striking out one batter. 
  • Emma McCormack closed out the game and only surrendered one earned run in her first career outing.
  • Marymount's offense struggled as Leila Hernandez was the only baserunner on a walk. 
  • In the second game against the Yellow Jackets, Kammie Brown singled to right field in the 3rd inning, allowing Ashleigh Mannion to score the first run of the day after she started the rally with a triple. This cut the deficit to 4-1. 
  • Hernandez almost scored in the sixth inning before a groundout ended the scoring threat. 
  • Hernandez and and Samantha Cinotti stole one base each.
  • Shanyn Burch pitched 5.1 innings of the second game, putting up five strikeouts and allowing four earned runs. 
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will play their first home game of the season on Friday against Sweet Briar College. This will be a doubleheader at Nationals Youth Academy in Washington D.C. at 3 PM and 5 PM.
  • They will then hit the road on Saturday to play a doubleheader against Washington College in Chestertown, Md. at 12 PM and 2 PM. 
  • On Wednesday, February 28th, they will face Messiah University in Grantham, Pa. for a doubleheader at 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM.
