WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Marymount men's basketball fell to Saint John's in the opening round of the Tom McKavitt Tournament, hosted by Catholic University, on Wednesday afternoon, 71-55.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 6-4 on the season ahead of the consolation game tomorrow afternoon at Franny Murray Court.
NOTABLE
- Miles Phillips had eight points on the day with five rebounds, with Marcus Stubbs and Max Pearcy each adding eight to the scoreboard. Stubbs added a pair of blocks to his line.
- Joshua Hughes led the Saints on the glass with six rebounds, adding a trio of assists.
- David King had five points and rebounds to his credit.
- Reuben McEachern dropped seven with two assists, rebounds, and assists.
- Ronier Peters evened up at six points and boards, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Johnnies opened up with six-straight, Stubbs drove down the lane to get the Saints on the board, starting a back-and-forth battle.
- Down 13, Pearcy nabbed an offensive board and put it back to get the Saints moving on the offense.
- MU went put together a seven-point run, highlighted by a three from Phillips, to close out the first half and give the Saints some momentum for the second half.
- Jase Mosley opened the second frame with a three to keep life on the Marymount bench.
- The Saints continued to battle, but the Johnnies utilized an array of runs to ultimately take the contest in the decisive fashion down the stretch.

- Marymount will play in the consolation game tomorrow at 1 PM, playing either the hosting Cardinals or Rowan.
