LANCASTER, Pa.- The Atlantic East Conference announced the 2024 Cross Country major award winners and All-Conference teams on Tuesday. The top 14 finishers at the conference championship made up the all-conference squads.
On the women's side,
Avery Finnegan from Marymount was named Runner of the Year, finishing the course with a time of 24:48.5, while teammate
Brier Amerlinck was named as Rookie of the Year with a time of 25:24.3 and a third-place finish. It's Finnegan's third time as a First Team All-Conference runner in her career while Amerlinck missed her first-year campaign due to injury.
Joining the pair as a First Team All-Conference member was
Mikayla Stephens, who finished in sixth place. Rounding out the All-Conference honorees for Marymount was
Gabrielle Weirsky (Second Team – 11
th place) and Madeleine Pare (Second Team – 14
th place). It was Pare's first All-Conference nod and the second for both Stephens and Weirsky.
The Atlantic East Elite 20 Award is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA competing at the final site of the championship and finishing in the top two teams. This year's award winner for men's cross country was Joseph Cardillo from Marywood and
Brier Amerlinck from Marymount for the women's side. Cardillo boasted a 3.925 GPA in Mathematics, while Amerlinck has a perfect 4.0 GPA in Biochemistry.
For their work in guiding the Saints to their first cross country conference championship,
Max McNeill and Kameron Blanding earned the Coaching Staff of the Year award from the conference.
The full all-conference teams are listed below. Finishers 1-7 earned first-team while 8-14 earned second-team.
