ARLINGTON -- For the second time in three years, Marymount men's soccer will host Neumann in the Atlantic East championship after the Saints dispatched Marywood 2-0 on Wednesday night at Long Bridge Park.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount generated some impressive offense in the first half, nearly capitalizing on beautiful long-range shots by Daniel Yi and Alvaro Valdovinos that required impressive saves by Marywood.Â
- Bayron Banegas also picked up some impressives in the net, recording a total of five saves as he recorded his second clean sheet in a row.Â
- The Saints finally broke through in the 76th minute after Erick Shoetter-Rojas sent the ball left past the keeper after an assist from Leonardo Torres. It was Shoetter-Rojas's eighth goal of the season and was the eighth assist of the season for Torres.Â
- Less than three minutes later, Torres gave the Saints some breathing room after beating the keeper to the right after a great pass ahead by Jorge Lopez. The goal was the 16th of the season for Torres and the fourth assist of the season for Lopez.Â
- As a team, Marymount drew six corner kicks compared to two for Marywood and also held a 14-8 advantage in shots.Â
- Banegas and the Marymount defense kept the Pacers off the board and held on for a 2-0 win.Â
