ARLINGTON -- Marymount men's soccer saw its hopes of an Atlantic East championship dashed on Saturday at the hands of Neumann as the Knights won 3-1 for their second conference championship in a row.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neumann jumped on the board first with a goal from a free kick set piece in the fourth minute.Â
- 12 minutes later, the Knights got some breathing room after the Marymount defense failed to clear a long ball into the box that allowed Neumann to finish for the 2-0 advantage.Â
- The score remained that way until Leonardo Torres scored an acrobatic goal in the 78th minute to push Marymount within one.Â
- Neumann was able to extend the lead once again a few minutes later a corner kick found its way into the net for a 3-1 lead with just over eight minutes remaining in the game.Â
- Overall, Marymount held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks and 14-8 advantage in shots taken.Â
- Both sides had three yellow cards on the day.Â
- Marymount finishes it season with an 11-5-5 record and a 5-0-1 mark in conference play. The .642 winning percentage is currently the highest mark in program history.Â
