ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount men's basketball opened Pablo Coto action with a win over Dickinson, 72-58.
With the win, the Saints advance to the championship round tomorrow, slated for 2 PM, against Amherst College, who won in their first round contest.
NOTABLE
- Isaac Harris led the way for the Saints with 19 points on the day, a game-high, with seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
- Marcus Stubbs had 14 with seven rebounds.
- Miles Phillips shot 5-for-8 from the floor en route to 14 points of his own, adding eight rebounds and three assists.
- Muhsin Muhammad had nine off of the beng for Marymount, going 4-of-5 from the floor with a trio of steals.
- Joshua Hughes added six points with a pair of rebounds and an assist.
- As a team, the Saints shot 45.8% from the floor.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a score and a foul from Harris, the Saints got out to a 14-5 lead early on to gain momentum.
- Continuing their strong run in the opener, the Saints pushed out to a 17-point lead with a layup from David King.
- Dickinson began chipping away at the MU lead, but the Saint had the final blow in the first half with Stubbs driving in the lane to secure a 31-to-18 lead heading into the locker room.
- After three-straight scored from the Red Devils, the Saints got back on the board with a jumper from Hughes, followed by Phillips driving down the lane to get the Saints moving again.
- A breakaway dunk from Stubbs gave the Saints a 13-point lead with under 12 minutes left in the contest.
- Marymount held onto their double-digit lead down the stretch to take the opening round of the tournament for the men.
