Long Bridge/Arlington, VA– Marymount played a well fought game against Neumann, coming back from a one point disadvantage at half time to even the score and secure a top two spot going into the upcoming tournament.
This brings the Saints' record to 7-8-4. The Saints are still undefeated in conference play.
NOTABLE
- Alvarado, Nicole scored for the Saints in the 70th minute, achieving the tying goal for Marymount. Alvarado also had two other shots on goal in the 26th and 86th minutes of the game.
- Harkins, Breanna had 3 shots on goal for the Saints in the 3rd, 24th, and 51st minutes of the game.
- The defense played a strong game against Neumann, notably senior Captain Calvert, Jessica held a strong position in front of the back line blocking numerous Neumann attempts at goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount began the game with an aggressive stance keeping the Neumann defense on their toes.
- The Saints kept the pressure for most of the first half dominating possession except for one slow period where Neumann was able to take control and slip a goal past the Saints' defense.
- The Saints ended the half behind by one but came out strong in the second half.
- The Saints had multiple scoring opportunities but Alvarado had the only goal for the Saints in the game. Her goal denied the Knights the victory. Alvarado scored her goal in the 70th minute after an offensive push made with the support of multiple players in the offense.
UP NEXT
- The next game for the Saints will be the beginning of conference play. The time and opponent of the game will be determined based off of the winner of the Marywood vs Immaculata game. No matter the winner, Marymount will play next Wednesday November 6th.
