ASTON, Pa. -- Strong defense and timely offense led to a strong 1-0 victory on the road for Marymount men's soccer over Neumann on Wednesday night, handing Neumann its first conference loss of the season. The Saints earned home-field advantage throughout the Atlantic East playoffs with the dramatic victory.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount capitalized on its first shot attempt of the night as Jefferson Lopez Coreas put MU on top in the 12th minute.Â
- It proved to be all the offense the Saints needed in a 1-0 victory.Â
- Despite being outshot 15-7 and out numbered 12-2 in corner kicks, the Marymount defense held strong in picking up its fifth clean sheet of the season.Â
- Bayron Banegas grabbed three saves and the backline made a few crucial stops to keep Neumann off the board.Â
- A total of nine cards were issued in the intense battle with Marymount having to close the game a man down for the final 13 minutes.Â
