Women's Volleyball Moves to 2-0 in AEC Play With Win Over Pratt

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Marymount women's volleyball played their first-ever Atlantic East match against the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute Saturday morning, taking the contest in sweeping fashion.

With the win, the Saints improve to 2-0 in Atlantic East play.

NOTABLE
  • Harper Wolf hit at a staggering .381 clip en route to a team-high 12 kills in the match, adding two digs for 12.0 points.
  • Emily Genau had seven total kills, hitting at a .333 percentage, with three digs and aces apiece.
  • Maya Harris knocked six kills with a .455 hitting percentage. 
  • Elizabeth Stackpole notched two solo blocks with four kills in the decisive win.
  • Katee Stromberg added five kills and a block.
  • Natalie Bialecki put up 26 assists alongside five digs, two kills, and a block assist.
  • Eliza Freeman led the way with eight digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Cannoneers remained close in the early going of the first set, but a seven-point run from the Saints with the final blow of the run coming from Stromberg gave MU a 17-6 cushion.
  • Down the stretch of the first set, the two teams traded blocks, but a kill from Genau sealed the deal to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
  • Marymount went up 6-to-2 early on in set two, with Wolf knocking down a kill to give the Saints the four-point advantage. 
  • With MU maintaining offensive pressure, another quick spurt of points, capped off by another Wolf kill, gave Marymount a 10-point lead in the second set of action.
  • Pratt put themselves withing six, but back-to-back kills from Stromberg and Wolf gave the Saints the win in set two.
  • Marymount opened up the third set with a 9-to-3 run, capped off by a Genau kill, to get back in the swing of things.
  • It was all Saints down the final plays, with back-to-back service aces from Lauryn Sims to finish off the big AEC win.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints come back home this upcoming Wednesday, Oct. 23, hosting Gwynedd Mercy in AEC action at 6 PM.
  • The following Saturday, they will head back on the road to Marywood for a 12 PM first serve.
