ARLINGTON, Va. -- In their first home match in over a month, Marymount women's volleyball showed out in front of the home crowd, sweeping the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy to remain perfect in Atlantic East play.
With the win, MU now sits at 3-0 in the conference.
NOTABLE
- It was Harper Wolf again leading the charge on the offense, knocking 16 kills with a .214 clip for 16.0 points.
- Emily Genau hit at a staggering .467 percentage with nine kills, adding 10 digs for 11.0 points.
- Maya Harris had seven kills at a 267 clip, adding a block and five digs.
- Elizabeth Stackpole had five kills in the win.
- Natalie Bialecki put up 31 assists with four kills, six digs, and a block assist.
- The team hit at a .294 percentage in the decisive win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It began as a back-and-forth affair, with the Griffins staying toe-to-toe in the early going. Three straight points gave Marymount a four-point lead.
- A 6-2 run down the stretch of the first set was the deciding factor, with Stackpole shooting down a kill to take set one and give the Saints the needed momentum.
- Set two was a bit tighter. MU got out to a 4-1 lead with a kill from Wolf to maintain the momentum of the first set.
- The Griffins continued to remain close, tying it at 18 apiece.
- The Saints turned it up a notch and took advantage of key mistakes from GMU to score three-straight to finish off set two.
- It was all Marymount in the final set, taking down the Griffins by ten points with Wolf swatting the decisive final kill of the evening.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will head to Marywood on Saturday for an AEC tri-match with Centenary.
- They will play Marywood at 2 PM before finishing the day with Centenary at 4 PM.
- Marymount will be back in Converse Family Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Oct. 30 for Senior Night against Immaculata at 6 PM.
