Scranton, PA– The Saints played in a battle of the defenses against the Pacers with neither team able to break through to find the back of the net.
This brings the Saints' record to 5-8-3. The Saints are still undefeated in conference play.
NOTABLE
- Dufour, Mara kept the goal locked down for the Saints with 10 saves throughout the game.
- Calvert, Jessica and Gomez, Angela played the whole 90 minutes on defense for the Saints and were a central part of denying the Pacers' offense.
- Midfielder Diggs, Eliza and defender Swekosky, Lexa were the only two with shots on goal for Marymount during the game. The shots took place during the 45th minute, to start the second half, and the 68th minute of the game. Both were saved by the opposing keeper before they could cross the goal line.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Marymount defense held things together during the first and second halves for the Saints. The Marywood offense remained on the attack but the Saint's defense denied all attempts at goal made by the Pacers.
- Marymount remained in a primarily defensive stance for the duration of the game and were able to reject all attempts made by Marywood to break the 0-0 stalemate.
- The second half saw the most action for the Saints' offensive side, with an early shot on goal by E. Diggs, a breakaway chance for Tonic, Marissa in the 54th minute, a set play attempt by Harkins, Breanna, and a last shot on goal by Swekosky.
- None of the offensive chances resulted in a goal, but they were able to challenge the Pacers' defense and help take the pressure off of the Saints' defensive side.
- The game ended in a 0-0 tie after Dufour shut down all Pacers attempts at goal, resulting in 10 saves added to her stat count.
