ARLINGTON, Va. - The Saints took it down to the wire against the visiting Pacers of Marywood to start off the second half of the conference season, ultimately falling by a final score of 71-68.
With the loss, the Saints' record now stands at 12-7 overall on the season, 6-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It took time for the offense to get going for Marymount, as they hit their first field goal in breakaway fashion from Montell Cooper at the 15-minute more to cut into the Pacers' lead, 7-3.
- Marywood led by as much as seven in the first half, but the Saints gained momentum and put together a strong run to take the lead at 35-33 off a jumper from Wyatt Hockenberry.
- The Pacers sank a three in the final minute of the first half to finish off the scoring, sending the game into halftime with Marywood up 39-36.
- Back-to-back baskets from CJ Highsmith Jr. gave the Saints the advantage off the jump of the second half.
- A fast break from Hockenberry gave Marymount an eight point lead with just over 10 minutes left in the game.
- Marywood continued to stay on the Saints' heels throughout the final minutes, putting together a strong push in the waning time.
- With the Saints trying to hang on to a one point lead, Marywood sank the needed three and held on down the stretch to nab the win in Converse.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will play their final non-conference game next Wednesday against Salisbury, with tip off scheduled for 7 PM.
- They will hit the road next weekend, traveling to Immaculata to get back into AEC play.
