ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount men's basketball played their final non-conference game of the season Wednesday evening, taking down the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University in front of their home crowd in a night of history for the Saints.
With a final score of 82-65, the Saints move to 13-7 overall on the season behind senior
Wyatt Hockenberry scoring his 1,000th point of his collegiate career.
NOTABLE
- In Hockenberry's career night, he posted a team-high 20 points off of the bench, going 50% from beyond the arc while adding a pair of rebounds, a block, and an assist.
- Marcus Stubbs put up 16 points in the win with six total rebounds, three assists, and a pair of steals.
- Miles Phillips was perfect from beyond the arc, notching 12 total points alongside three assists and a steal.
- Marcus Beckett had 10 on the evening while pulling down seven boards.
- Reuben McEachern had three steals and five assists for the Saints.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints hopped out to a six point lead in the early going, with Jack Bifano sinking a jumper within the arc to give the Saints early momentum.
- A three from Hockenberry put the Saints up by 12 with 10 minutes left in the first half.
- Phillips found an open look and sank a three with just over three minutes left to play in the opening half to give Marymount an 18 point advantage.
- Salisbury cut into the MU lead early in the second half, getting within eight, before a dunk from CJ Highsmith Jr. and a three from Stubbs put the Saints back in a double-digit lead.
- With Salisbury inching closer, the Saints utilized a strong run to go up 18 with just over five minutes left in the game.
- Another dunk from Highsmith Jr. was the dagger, as the Saints closed out another win in Converse Family Fieldhouse.
UP NEXT
- The Saints hit the road this weekend, getting back into AEC action at Immaculata on Saturday at 3 PM.
- MU comes back home next Wednesday, taking on Cabrini at 7 PM.
