ARLINGTON -- Marymount women's basketball led by as many as 24 points over Neumann on Wednesday before settling for a 61-50 victory. With the win, Marymount improves to 5-0 in Atlantic East play.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount raced out to an 8-0 advantage in the first three minutes of action.Â
- The Saints continued to push and and held an 18-6 advantage after 10 minutes.Â
- MU's lead stretched to as many as 19 points in the second quarter before Neumann made a pair of threes in the final minute to make the score 36-23 at halftime.Â
- It was more of the same story in the third quarter with Marymount running up a 24-point advantage with 4:20 left in the frame before Neumann closed out strong to cut the deficit to 53-37.Â
- The Saints only mustered two field goals in the fourth quarter as Neumann got within seven at one point before Marymount held on down the stretch for the 61-50 victory.Â
- Symantha Shackelford (19 points, 6-9 FG, 2-4 3PT) and Chandler Eddleton (16 points, eight rebounds, 8-12 FG) led the Marymount offense.Â
- Claire Smith nabbed 11 rebounds and Terra Dzambo added nine points.Â
- Marymount once again held a strong advantage in fast break points, 18-7.Â
UP NEXT
- Marymount will stay at home for a matchup on Saturday against Marywood at 2 PM.Â
- The game will serve as Senior Day and Alumni Day for the women's basketball program.Â
