Women's Volleyball Adds Two More Wins at the Second Day of the Worthington Classic

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Women's volleyball faced Catholic University and Gallaudet University at the second day of the Worthington Classic hosted by Gallaudet. They add two more wins to their record with a 3-1 decision against Catholic and another 3-1 decision against Gallaudet.

NOTABLE
  • Kaitlyn Doyle had another great day as she totaled 24 kills in their first match against Catholic and another 15 kills in the second match against Gallaudet.
  • Alexis Franklin totaled 96 assists for both matches.
  • Elizabeth Stackpole lead the team in terms of hitting percentage for their first match with a 1.0.
  • Maya Harris had 9 blocks across the course of the day and Myia Jeter added a total of 8. 
  • In the match against Catholic, Sarah Pham lead the team defensively with 13 digs.
  • In the second match of the day, Kaitlyn Doyle contributed 18 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A close first set in the match against Catholic ended with a win for the Saints 25-23. Numerous kills from Kaitlyn Doyle and Maya Harris throughout this frame gave the Saints the upper hand early on.
  • The Cardinals took the second frame, forcing the match into four sets. Coming back from a 6 point deficit early in the fourth set, the Saints claimed their victory over the Cardinals with a winning kill by Kaitlyn Doyle.
  • In the second match against Gallaudet, the Saints and the Bison split the first two sets. Going into the third, Marymount quickly gained momentum, taking the lead with two back to back kills by Maya Harris. Claiming the third set with a close score of 25-21. 
  • Holding a steady 6 point lead throughout much of the fourth set, the Saints claimed their second victory of the day and fourth of the weekend with a winning kill from Kaitlyn Doyle, taking the match 25-21. 
UP NEXT
  • Next Saturday, the Saints will travel back to Washington, D.C. as they face Catholic Univeristy again along with the Univeristy of Scranton.
  • Marymount will have their third home game of the season on October 3rd against Salisbury University at 6:30 PM.
