New York, NY. - The Marymount University Women's volleyball team traveled north for a battle against New York University Friday night, dropping a 3-0 (25-7, 25-19, 25-13) decision.
NOTABLE
- Natalie Bialecki led the team both with digs and assists. She totaled 10 digs and 11 assists for the match.
- Kaitlyn Doyle carried the team offensively, racking in 8 hits for the Saints as well as adding 8 points.Â
- Maya Harris had the 2nd highest hitting percentage and point total for tonights match with .308 and 7.5, respectively.Â
- Alexis Frankin provided the team with the only service ace of the night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints had a slow start in the first set, struggling to make it past 7 points against the Violets, ending the frame with a 25-7 deficit.Â
- Tightening the score in the second frame, Marymount came back from a 9 point deficit to bring the score to 21-18 with 4 kills from Kaitlyn Doyle. After fighting hard, the Saints fells short 25-19.
- Despite a strong second set for the Saints, the Violets came out on top in the third frame, lengthening the distance as the set progressed. NYU solidified the match win 25-13 with a double block.Â
UP NEXT
- Tomorrow, the Saints will stay in New York to face Emerson College at 10 AM and Virginia Wesleyan University at 3 PM.Â
- On Wednesday, Marymount will host their second game of the season against John Hopkins University at 7 PM.
- Next weekend, they will participate in the Worthington Classic at Gallaudet University where they will go up against 4 teams throughout Friday and Saturday.
