FREDERICK, Md. -- After a competitive start to its non-conference slate, Marymount men's soccer picked up some confidence with a 5-0 victory at Hood on Wednesday night. The Saints picked up their first win of the season in the contest.

- It was Marymount's first blank sheet of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Torres put Marymount on top in the 15th minute with his first goal of the season.
- Despite eight first-half shots, the Saints went into halftime with a narrow 1-0 lead.
- Torres opened the floodgates with his second goal almost 20 minutes into the second half. The tally came from an assist by Matthew Guzman-Veizaga.
- Cassinera, Torres, and Cozier scored the final three goals over a 10-minute stretch late in the game to ice the victory.
HEAR FROM COACH KALIN
- "Overall, we played very well and credit to Hood - they played inspired soccer until we got the second goal, which took way too long to get. But once we got it, you could see the stress just float away and we really lit up with confidence. Jona's two assists were outstanding deliveries into the box and our runs were so well-timed. I was very happy with the guys who came in during the final ten minutes. They not only locked down the shutout but played with the same confidence in the attack."
UP NEXT
- Marymount will return to Long Bridge Park on Friday, Sept. 15 for a 4 PM matchup against Notre Dame of Maryland.
- The Saints will then play at Southern Virginia on Saturday evening.
