Men’s Lacrosse Advances to AEC Semifinals; Williams Breaks Single-Season Points Record

ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount men's lacrosse carried momentum from a strong close to the regular season into postseason play as the Saints turned in a dominant performance in a 14-5 win over Neumann in the first round of the Atlantic East Tournament.

NOTABLE
  • Jack Williams scored eight points, breaking the single-season points record held by Clark Akers since 2019. Williams now has 84 points this season, breaking Akers' record of 78 set in 2019. 
  • Williams also picked up a team-high seven ground balls, which matches his career-high in the category.
  • Bryan Maguire had three goals and an assist and Ciaran Connolly had four goals to round out the offensive leaders.
  • Collin DeBruyn scooped up a career-high six ground balls and also caused a turnover.
  • Marymount has now reached the Atlantic East semifinals in four straight seasons dating back to 2019. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Marymount held a 4-0 lead after one quarter as the Saints scored three goals in a 1:27 stretch to build their lead.
  • Neumann got back into the game with three straight goals before Noah Hill and Williams closed out the half with tallies to head into halftime with a 6-3 lead.
  • MU extended its lead with four straight goals early in the second half, including a man-up goal from Maguire, to lead 10-3.
  • The Saints outscored Neumann 4-1 in the final frame to clinch the 14-5 win.

  • Marymount will travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday for the Atlantic East semifinals.
