TYSONS, Va. – Bryce Smith was the hero on Tuesday night, picking up a two-out walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to clinch a 5-4 win over St. Mary's (Md.).

NOTABLE

• Bryce Smith went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBIs.
• Craig Sodano hit a two-run triple.
• Four pitchers saw action on the bump with Kyle Lewis earning the win in relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Saints closed out the top of the first with an impressive strike-em-out, throw-em-out double play.
• Smith led off the bottom of the second with a solo shot to right field to give Marymount a 1-0 lead.
• The Seahawks tied things up on a bases-loaded walk in the top of the third.
• Peter Chiarello entered in relief and got three straight outs, including two strikeouts, to get Marymount out of the jam.
• After Smith picked up a base knock in the bottom of the third, Sodano tripled him and Robert Moffett home to take a 3-1 lead.
• St. Mary's scored three runs in the top of the sixth to jump ahead, 4-3.
• Marymount tied the game on a balk in the bottom of the seventh.
• In the bottom of the ninth, Moffett drilled a single up the middle to get on base and start the rally.
• After advancing to second on a groundout to first base, he scored on Smith's single up the middle. 

UP NEXT

• Marymount will open a three-game set on the road at Cabrini on Friday at 3:30 PM.
• The Saints will return to Capital One Park for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 29 at 12 PM.
