ASTON, Pa. - Marymount baseball took the split in the series-ending doubleheader at Neumann University on Saturday afternoon, falling in extra innings in game one before taking the rubber match 5-4 to win the three-game set.
With the split, the Saints currently sit at 9-3 in Atlantic East play, 18-14 overall.
Notable
- Bryce Smith went 4-for-5 in game one with two doubles. He knocked in an RBI while scoring a run himself in the contest.
- Bobby Leitzel knocked a collective six hits across the day with two RBI. He added three stolen bags.
- In the game two win, Craig Sodano went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
- Ryan Maylie had four hits and two RBI in the doubleheader.
- Despite earning the loss in game one, Owen Mead put up a strong performance in relief, going 6.1 strong innings while allowing just one unearned run across four hits. His freshman season ERA currently sits at 1.32.

How It Happened
Game One
- The first two innings were quiet, with the Saints striking first in the top of the third, plating a pair of runs with a two-RBI single off the bat of Maylie.
- Neumann put two runs on the board in both the bottom of the third and fifth innings to take a 4-2 lead.
- Marymount tied up the game in the top of the sixth, with Smith and Dickson both collecting RBI.
- The bats went quiet until the bottom of the 12th inning, where the Knights walked it off to take game one of the doubleheader and force the decisive third game.
Game Two
- After a quiet first inning, the Saints plated three runs in the top of the second, highlighted by a two-RBI single through the right side from Leitzel.
- The Knights scored three across the fifth and sixth innings to tie up the contest.
- MU took the lead in the top of the seventh inning with Sodano and Clarkson each collecting an RBI apiece.
- Dickson worked out of trouble to earn the save, taking the series 2-1.
