TYSONS, Va. - Marymount baseball opened up their three-game set with the Knights of Neumann University on Friday afternoon, taking the game by a final score of 9-1 with an eighth inning burst of offense after a tight pitchers' duel up to that point.
The win puts the Saints at an 8-2 record in Atlantic East play, 17-13 overall.

- Starter David Muirhead put up an exceptional start on the mound, allowing just one earned run in 8.0 innings pitched with five strikeouts. He lowered his season ERA to 3.70 while earning his fifth win on the mound.
- Bryce Smith knocked two hits on the day with a double and two RBI.
- Out of the third spot in the lineup, Bobby Leitzel went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.Â
- Andrew Schaeb had two hits with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.
- In his lone plate appearance after taking over behind the plate, Chad Singleton knocked a two-RBI single.Â

How It Happened
- After both teams were set down in order in the first inning, the Knights struck first with a run in the top of the second, but the Saints answered with a run of their own in the bottom frame via an RBI single from Smith.
- The game proceeded in a pitchers' duel, with both Friday starters tossing up zeroes up to the eighth inning.
- Marymount exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a commanding lead, highlighted by Singleton, Dickson, Schaeb, and Leitzel.
- Dickson tossed the final inning to close out the win, working out of a jam with a double play started by Jimmy Baker.
