Baseball's Ninth-Inning Comeback Falls Short, Fall to Eagles 4-2

TYSONS, Va. - Marymount baseball took the Eagles of Mary Washington down to the wire in a Monday non-conference matchup, ultimately falling 4-2.

The loss puts the Saints at a 16-13 overall record. 

Notable How It Happened
  • Mary Washington plated a run in both the top frames of the first and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead as the pitchers on both ends cruised.
  • The Saints tied up the tally in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single from Dickson, followed up by a perfect bunt from Robby Cable to score Moffett.
  • The Eagles put two more on the board in the top of sixth to retake the lead.
  • Marymount got the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to threat a walkoff, but the Eagles staff were able to work out of the jam, ending the tight game.

  • MU will be back at Capital One Park this Friday, taking on Neumann to start their three-game series at 3 PM.
  • They will finish the set at Neumann on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
