Men’s Lacrosse Rolls Past Juniata

ARLINGTON, Va. – Juniata held a lead after the first quarter but Marymount men's lacrosse responded with force and rolled to a 17-7 win on Tuesday night.    

NOTABLE
  • Gavin Taylorson and Mason Vandawater put up identical lines in the win, both going off for three goals and one assist.
  • Kai Goo picked up his first points of the season by scoring two goals and adding two assists.
  • Marymount held a 58-18 advantage in shots taken and also won the battle at midfield by winning 22 of 28 faceoffs.
  • Cameron Glass won 13-of-16 faceoffs and snagged 11 groundballs.
  • Three goalies saw action in net for the Saints: Matthew Davis (five saves), Jacob Brooks (one save), and Steve Lucchesi (one save). 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first quarter went back-and-forth as Juniata scored the final two goals of the period to lead 4-3 after the first 15 minutes.
  • To open the second quarter, Marymount rattled off five goals in a row, including two goals in six seconds to lead, 8-4.
  • After Taylorson scored his second goal of the day to make it 7-4, Glass won the faceoff and took the ball all the way in for his first goal in an MU uniform.
  • Goo's goal with 27 seconds left gave the Saints a 9-5 lead at halftime.
  • Marymount outscored Juniata, 6-0, in the third quarter to hold a 15-5 lead after 45 minutes.
  • Vandawater and Will Strausbaugh scored the final two goals for the Saints in a 17-7 win.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will begin a stretch of six road games out of their next seven contests with a trip to Stockton on Saturday, March 11.
  • Marymount will return to Long Bridge Park on Wednesday, March 22 against Hood at 7 PM.
