ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Marymount softball closed out its weekend of play at the Grand Slam Classic with a pair of tough losses to North Carolina Wesleyan and Randolph-Macon on Sunday afternoon.

NC WESLEYAN (L, 1-9)
  • In the first inning, Kammie Brown advanced all the way to third base after a walk but was stranded when the Saints struck out to end the inning.
  • In the third, Shanyn Burch got all the way to third after hitting a double to left field. She was left on base after a pop up to end the inning.
  • Marymount's best chance came in the top of the fifth after loading the bases on back-to-back singles. An inning-ending double play ended the rally with no runs scored.
  • At the end of the fifth inning, the Saints trailed 6-0.
  • In the 6th inning, Marymount finally got one run back on an RBI groundout from Hailey Leamer that brought home Caitlyn Oakland.
  • The Bishops plated three runs in the bottom of the frame to invoke the eight-run mercy rule.

  • Marymount scratched an unearned run across in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 4-1.
