ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount softball stole a 2-1 victory over Marywood to open up the day on Sunday before falling 6-1 in the second game.

  • Hailey Leamer had the other RBI in game one.

GAME ONE
  • Burch hit her sixth home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning. That matches the program record set by Kaylynn Johnson in Marymount's first season of competition last spring.
  • In the bottom of the second, Leamer hit a single up the middle to bring home Kaylee Atkins for a 2-0 lead.
  • Burch forced a groundout to first base to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the fourth.
  • Marywood got one run back in the top of the sixth but Burch induced another bases-loaded groundout to maintain a 2-1 lead.
  • Burch mowed down the Pacers in order in the seventh to clinch the 2-1 win.
GAME TWO
  • Marywood opened the game with three straight hits, including a three-run home run to left center for an early 3-0 lead.
  • The Pacers added another run in the top of the second thanks to a bases-loaded walk.
  • In the bottom of the third, Marymount worked to load the bases with one out.
  • Burch hit a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 4-1 but the Saints couldn't muster any more runs in the frame.
  • Marywood added two more runs in the top of the fifth to make it 6-1.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Gilroy hit a pinch-hit double to left field to open the inning. She made it all the way to third but was stranded after back-to-back outs to end the game.
UP NEXT
