Men’s Lacrosse Closes Non-Conference Slate at Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – A 3-2 first-quarter lead slipped away quickly for Marymount men's lacrosse on Saturday as Mary Washington rattled off 10 second-quarter goals en route to a 17-7 win over the Saints.

NOTABLE
  • Gavin Taylorson eclipsed the 100-point mark through just 28 career games with a four-goal, one-assist performance on Saturday. He now has 101 career points.
  • With two goals and an assist, Jack Williams is one point away from joining Taylorson in the 100-point club. He would become the 19th member of the club.
  • Williams is currently tied for seventh in program history with 52 career assists and would move to fifth place with two more helpers. The school record is 76, set by Paul Schiavone from 1993-96.
  • Defensively, Dominic Hafner picked up four ground balls and Collin DeBruyn caused two turnovers.
  • Marymount held the Eagles to 0-for-6 on extra-man opportunities.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Marymount found itself trailing 2-1 with 10:21 remaining in the first quarter.
  • Goals from Taylorson and Williams gave MU a 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter.
  • The second quarter was all Mary Washington as the Eagles outscored the Saints 10-1 in the frame, including eight straight goals at one point.
  • Noah Hill scored a man-up goal with 12:29 left in the third to cut the deficit to 13-5 but Marymount didn't find the back of net again until late in the fourth quarter, ultimately falling 17-7.
UP NEXT
