Women's Lacrosse Powers Past Gators

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Saints women's lacrosse squad took a quick trip to Maryland on Tuesday afternoon to take on Notre Dame (Md.) in non-conference action.

MU took the decisive win by a final tally of 21-4, improving to 6-4 on the season.

Notable
  • Arayla Garcia continued her impressive season, notching five goals in the contest, alongside four draw controls. She currently sits at 21 goals on the year.
  • Riley Love had two goals and four assists for six total points in the win. She picked up one ground ball, caused a turnover, and won a draw control to add to her line. 
  • Emily Peters had a goal and two assists, adding three draw controls. 
  • Elaina Hagen put up a goal and two assists with two ground balls and a caused turnover. 
  • Megan Edens scored a goal in the affair, while winning four draw controls, picking up two ground balls, and causing a turnover. 
  • Ella Baker had two goals and a ground ball.
  • Off of the bench, Natalia Ortiz scored two goals alongside three ground balls, a caused turnover, and four draw controls. 
  • Tess Valentino scored twice and picked up an assist.
  • Brooke Bretney, Lucy Brown, Kaleigh Dunham, Anna Geiger, and Jillian Blair each scored a goal off of the bench for the Saints. 
How It Happened
  • The Saints put the first five goals in the net to open up play and take a quick, commanding lead. 
  • After a Gators goal, Marymount scored nine unanswered goals to take a strong 14-1 lead into the half. 
  • The Saints outscored the Gators 6-3 in the second half of play to hold onto the lead and take the win. 
Up Next
  • Marymount comes back home this Saturday, taking on DeSales at noon.
  • The game will be the Live Like Liv Game for the Saints. 
  • The Saints will open up conference play Sunday, Apr. 2nd, against Centenary at 1 PM.
