DAVENPORT, Fla. - Marymount baseball opened up their Spring Break trip in Florida with a doubleheader split against Coe College.
The Saints currently sit with a 7-3 overall record after the day, with more baseball ahead in the coming days.
Notable
- Bryce Smith knocked four hits between both games, with his first home run of the season in game one. He currently sports a .343 batting average on the season.
- Andrew Schaeb picked up his second win of the year on the mound in game two, throwing 6.1 strong innings with nine strikouts, allowing just one earned run on four hits allowed.
- Ryan Maylie went 2-for-2 in game one with an RBI.
- Ryo Fabre collected three hits, a run, and an RBI on the day between the two contests.
- Chad Singleton knocked a double in game one.
- In the second game win, Blake Doggett collected two hits with a stolen bag.
How It Happened
Game One
- Coe got on the board first in the first game of the day in the bottom of the second inning, but starter David Muirhead managed the damage to keep the Saints within striking distance.
- Marymount tied up the game in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single from Maylie, scoring Fabre who singled to start the frame.
- Coe put up four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead again.
- The Saints struck again in the top of the fifth with a solo homer off the bat of Smith.
- MU struggled to put anything else together down the stretch, with Coe taking game one of the day.
Game Two
- It was Marymount who struck first in the game two, with Quincy Via scoring in the bottom of the first inning after singling earlier in the frame.
- MU put two more on board in the bottom of the third, highlighted by an RBI single from Fabre.
- Schaeb dominated on the mound, allowing just one run in the top of the seventh to earn the win. Jordan Dickson closed out the final two outs to pick up the save.
