WASHINGTON – Marymount softball held a 7-4 lead entering the top of the 7th inning on Wednesday night against Shenandoah, but surrendered four runs in the frame to fall, 8-7.
The teams only played one game after a nearly two-hour delay to play. The Saints and Hornets will work to reschedule the second game at a later date.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount took a 2-0 lead on a Jaclyn Burch single in the second inning.
- Shenandoah evened the game with a two-run homer in the top of the third.
- With two outs in the bottom of the third, Elizabeth Corcoran walked to appear to load the bases. But a passed ball on the play allowed Kaylynn Johnson to score to make it 3-2.
- Hailey Leamer then smoked a double to right-center to bring home Corcoran and Sheila Kiernan and give MU a 5-2 lead.
- The Saints added a run in the next frame on a bases-loaded walk.
- After Shenandoah scored twice in the top of the sixth, Elizabeth Norris hit an RBI single in the bottom of the inning to push Marymount ahead, 7-4.
- Back-to-back RBI hits for the Hornets cut the deficit to 7-6 in the top of the seventh.
- The Saints then got two straight outs to give themselves a chance to clinch the game.
- Shenandoah proceeded to hit a two-RBI single to left for the go-ahead runs.
- Marymount hit back-to-back singles in the bottom of the seventh but ended the game with a groundout to first base to fall, 8-7.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will host Washington College (Md.) on Wednesday, March 1 in a doubleheader.
- Play will begin at Barcroft Park at 12 PM.
