ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount women's basketball avenged its only conference loss of the season with a strong second-half performance to top Immaculata on Saturday, 72-58.

NOTABLE

• After being recognized pregame for Senior Day, Symantha Shackelford led all scorers with a season-high 24 points and made four 3-pointers.
• Chandler Eddleton, Ava Achtyl, and Terra Dzambo rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Saints.
• Claire Smith, the other senior to be recognized pregame, finished with seven points and seven rebounds. She added three steals on the defensive end.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Marymount led by as many as eight points in a fast-paced first quarter and finished with a 21-17 lead.
• The Saints took a nine-point lead on a trey from Shackelford with 7:45 remaining in the second quarter.
• But Immaculata responded and fought all the way back to only trail 41-40 at halftime.
• A fastbreak layup from Dzambo with 4:21 left punctuated a 10-2 Marymount run that gave the Saints another nine-point lead.
• Marymount held Immaculata without a field goal for the first eight minutes of the final frame to finally gain a double-digit lead and a little bit of breathing room.
• The Saints went 7-of-8 from the free-throw line down the stretch to ice the 72-58 victory. 

UP NEXT

• Marymount finished the Atlantic East slate with an 11-1 mark and the No. 1 seed.
• The Saints will host the lowest remaining seed in the conference tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 8 PM.
