NEWARK, N.J. - The Marymount men's volleyball team added another conference win on Saturday against Rutgers-Newark.
In three close sets, the Saints offense shone to come out on the winning end, 3-0. The Saints now sit at 10-4 overall, 3-1 in CVC play.
Notable
- Diego Peña led the offensive charge for the Saints with nine kills with a .278 hitting percentage and five aces. He added five digs and a block assist to finish out with 14.5 total points.
- Devon Robinson, another offensive leader for the Saints, knocked out nine kills and two assists finishing the night with nine points..
- Mason Moore hit at a .600 percentage, with seven kills. He added a block assist to his tally on the night for 7.5 total points.
- Esteban Jauregui registered eight points in the match with seven kills and one ace.
- Grayson Andrews facilitated the Saints offense with 22 assists, two kills, two block assists, and three aces.
How It Happened
- After some tradeoffs in the beginning of the first set, Marymount gained and maintained the lead. A kill from Peña was the deciding factor.
- Lead in the second set was contested until two service aces by Luke Morris gained the Saints a three-point buffer that they maintained until the end of the set.
- With both teams managing six point runs in the third half and the set tied at 24, an error by the and a kill by Jauregui resulted in a 26-24 decision in favor of the Saints.
