GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Marymount women's basketball maintained its stranglehold on the top spot in the Atlantic East standings with a 64-59 road win over Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday night.

NOTABLE

• Chandler Eddleton, the reigning conference player of the week, put together another double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds. It's her seventh double-double of the season and second in a row.
• Terra Dzambo and Claire Smith both set career-highs with six assists.
• Marymount remarkably grabbed 55 rebounds compared to 24 for Gwynedd Mercy.
• Ava Achtyl (12 points) and Symantha Shackelford (10 points) rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Saints. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Gwynedd scored the first four points but Marymount closed the first quarter with a 17-11 lead.
• The Griffins got within three points with 3:27 left in the second quarter, but the Saints closed the half on a 9-2 run to take a 32-22 lead into the break.
• A free throw from Eddleton with 1:51 remaining in the third quarter gave the Saints their largest lead of the game at 47-29.
• Eddleton scored a bucket with 1:31 left in the game to give MU a 60-44 lead.
• In the final 1:18, Gwynedd put together a furious 15-4 run to get within five points but Marymount held on for the win to move to 7-1 in conference play.
