WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Saints battled against #19 Catholic in the final day of the Catholic Classic on Tuesday afternoon, falling by a final tally of 70-to-64.
With the loss, the Saints' record pushes to 9-4 ahead of the holiday break.Â
NOTABLE
- Chandler Eddleton narrowly missed a triple-double in the losing effort, notching 27 points, nine rebounds, and eight steals. She became the 23rd member of the 1,000 points club for the Saints program.Â
- Symantha Shackelford had 18 on the afternoon on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor.Â
- Claire Smith led the Saints on the glass, pulling down 10 rebounds alongside her six points.Â
- Kyla Treadwell and Ella Morrison rounded out the scorers for the Saints.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The contest opened up with the two teams trading shots, but with a quick run, the Saints found themselves with an eight point lead after a bucket from Eddleton inside of the arc.Â
- The Cardinals sank a last second layup the go into the second period with a two point advantage.Â
- A scoring fastbreak from the Saints evened up the tally early in the second period.Â
- Morrison sank a three to finish up the scoring in the half, sending the Saints into the locker room down by seven.Â
- Marymount dominated the third period 20-to-9 to take lead heading into the final period of play.Â
- Catholic took advantage of a strong run to open the final period to run away with the win.Â
UP NEXT
- The Saints will be back home after the holiday break, hosting King's College (Pa.) on Saturday, Dec. 30.
- Tip off is scheduled for 1 PM.
- MU will open Atlantic East play against Immaculata on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
