LYNCHBURG, Va. – Marymount women's basketball opened its 2023-24 campaign with a convincing 76-44 victory on the road at Lynchburg Wednesday night. 

NOTABLE

• Chandler Eddleton led all scorers with an impressive 28-point showing. She went 10-of-17 from the field and drained all eight free-throw attempts. 
• Claire Smith led all players with nine rebounds on the night while going 3-of-5 from the field. 
• Marymount held a 42-20 advantage for points in the paint and also outscored the Hornets in points off turnovers by a 29-11 margin. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Marymount pulled away late in the first quarter for an early 23-12 lead. 
• Lynchburg cut into the deficit during the second quarter as Marymount's lead shrank to eight at 34-26. 
• The Saints put the game away with a 24-6 run throughout the entire third quarter. 
• With the reserves in to close out the game, Marymount cruised to a 76-44 victory in the season-opener.
