ARLINGTON -- For the second season in a row, Marymount women's basketball emerged with the Pablo Coto Tournament championship, winning this year's edition with an impressive 70-57 victory over Case Western on Saturday night.
NOTABLE
- Symantha Shackelford was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. She scored 14 points and hit four 3-pointers in the victory.
- Chandler Eddleton earned the second spot on the All-Tournament Team with an impressive 23-point, 12-rebound double-double.
- Claire Smith rounded out the double-digit scorers with 14 points. It was her highest-scoring performance since hitting her career-high with 22 points on Jan. 12, 2022. She added six boards and a steal to her statline on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A quick 9-2 run over the first two minutes forced an early Case Western timeout.
- Case battled back for a 13-11 lead but Marymount closed the quarter strong to hold a 21-15 lead after 10 minutes.
- The two sides remained close for most of the second quarter before the Saints once again finished strong to take a 41-31 lead at halftime.
- Game play slowed down in the third quarter as the Saints ended the frame with a 56-45 lead.
- Case used an 8-0 run to get within three points at 58-55 with 5:11 to go in the game.
- As the game entered crunch time, Marymount made its final six free throws to pull out a 70-57 victory.

- Marymount will have a quick turnaround with a matchup against Washington College on Tuesday night.
