ARLINGTON – Symantha Shackelford led all scoers on a night when she became the 22nd member of the 1,000-point club for Marymount women's basketball as the Saints rolled to a 67-48 win to open the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament.
 
NOTABLE

• Shackelford had 20 points and went 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.
• Chandler Eddleton battled inside for 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She also had three steals on the night.
• Claire Smith was 3-of-3 from the field, scoring seven points while also grabbing seven rebounds.
• Marymount forced 23 turnovers and held a 25-5 advantage in points off turnovers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Marymount raced out to a strong first quarter as the Saints led by 17 after one quarter.
• The lead stretched to as many as 27 points (39-12) early in the second quarter on a pair of free throws from Eddleton.
• Over the next two quarters, Worcester State methodically fought back into the game and got within 10 on a layup with 25 seconds left in the third quarter.
• The Saints regained control with a 12-0 run to get back on top by 24 points late.
• With the reserves in, Marymount finished off a 67-48 to advance to the Pablo Coto Championship. 

UP NEXT

• Marymount will host Case Western on Saturday at 7:30 PM.
• The Spartans pulled away late to defeat Penn State Harrisburg in the late game on Friday by a score of 70-61.
