Men's Basketball Picks Up First Win of the Season

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Marymount men's basketball finished up their stint at the Penn State Harrisburg Classic on Sunday afternoon with a win over Lebanon Valley College, 85-73.

With the win, the Saints move to 1-2 on the season after the weekend. 

NOTABLE
  • Isaac Harris led the scoring for the Saints off of the bench, dropping 16 points with three rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
  • Jack Farrelly shot a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc on his way to 14 total points. He grabbed three boards and stole two to add to his line.
  • Montell Cooper and Marcus Stubbs each had 14 in the game, with Cooper adding seven assists and four rebounds. Stubbs went 3-for-5 from three-point range.
  • Jack Bifano led on the glass with six rebounds, adding four points and two blocks.
  • As a team, the Saints shot 50% from beyond the arc. 
  • Marymount took advantage of their second chances, outscoring LVC 17-4 in those opportunities. 
  • The Saints utilized their bench, scoring 46 of their points from student-athletes not in the starting five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After the Dutchmen got on the board first, the Saints answered with back-to-back threes from Stubbs and Marcus Beckett to take the early lead.
  • Stubbs sank another three with under six minutes to go in the first half to take a 12-point lead and keep momentum on the Marymount bench.
  • LVC finished the half with five unanswered points to send the game into intermission at 43-35 in favor of the Saints.
  • A strong run from the Dutchmen gave them a 45-43 lead out of the gate, with a three from Stubbs ending the scoring drought for the Saints to nab the lead back.
  • The two teams continued to trade scoring chances, but ultimately the Saints came out on top by the game's final tally of 85-to-73.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will take the week off in preparation of the Pablo Coto Tournament next weekend.
  • Marymount will host Albright, Mary Baldwin, and Dallas between Saturday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 19.
  • MU will play Albright on Saturday at 1 PM before playing in either the championship or consolation game the following day.
