Saints Pick up Two More Wins on the Road

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA.-  Marymount Women's volleyball traveled to Gwynedd Valley, Pa. to face Gwynedd Mercy University and Centenary (N.J.) University. Coming out on top, the Saints claimed two more wins in a 3-0 decision against Centenary and a 3-2 decision against Gwynedd Mercy.

NOTABLE
  • Myia Jeter had a total of 7 blocks for the two matches. Maya Harris was close behind with 5. 
  • In the match against Centenary, Jada Griffith lead the team in terms of hitting percentage with a 1.00
  • Against Gwynedd Mercy, Kaitlyn Doyle contributed a total of 19 kills and 18 digs.
  • Sydney Sands had a total of 23 assists and 7 service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With a kill by Maya Harris to start the match against Centenary, the Saints quickly acquired a 6 point lead early on. Although, the Cyclones fought back to bring the score closer, the Saints claimed the first set 25-18, with a kill from Johanna Modica.
  • Continuing with a strong stride in the next two frames with notable plays by Myia Jeter and Harper Wolf with assists by Sydney Sands, the Saints took the final two sets 25-20 and 25-9 to claim the victory over the Cyclones.
  • In their second match, the Saints fell short in the first set but fought hard to win the next two. With numerous kills by Kaitlyn Doyle and service aces by Sydney Sands, the Saints were feeling strong heading into the fourth set.
  • Falling short to the Griffins in the fourth frame, 25-23, the match was forced into a decision set. With a kill by Kaitlyn Doyle and Jada Griffith, the Saints had a 3-0 lead at the start of the decision frame.
  • Maintaining the strong lead throughout, a total of 5 service aces helped to secure the win over the Griffins 15-5. 
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will play the University of Mary Washington at home on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
  • On Saturday, they will face Stevenson University at home at 2:00 PM.
