MALVERN, Pa. – Opening up the Atlantic East Tournament on the road at Immaculata on Saturday, Marymount men's soccer picked up just their second road win of the season in a 2-0 blanking of the Mighty Macs. With the win, the Saints advanced to the semifinals to face No. 1 seed Neumann on Tuesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount fired off nine shots, including four on target, in the first half but couldn't find the back of the net.
- Right away in the second half, Manny Gaunaurd picked up the game-winning goal with a strike in the 46th minute. It was his fourth of the season and 15th of his career.
- The Saints added another tally in the 53rd minute as Erick Shoetter-Rojas scored the goal with an assist from Gaunaurd. It was the rookie's second goal of the season.
- Bayron Banegas picked up four second-half saves to clinch the shutout. It was his fourth blank sheet of the season and the team's fifth.
- Marymount is unbeaten in six straight games dating back to Oct. 7.

- "This was a great team performance tonight. Even in adverse moments, we stayed focused on got the job done. Losing Leo and Kique for the majority of the second half could have caused us to panic but instead guys stepped up and played valuable minutes to get the result. Very proud of this group tonight."
UP NEXT
- Marymount will turn right around and take on No. 1 seed Neumann on the road Tuesday night.
- The Saints conceded two late goals on Wednesday night to finish with a 2-2 draw against Neumann the last time these two teams met.
