STAUNTON, Va. - Marymount women's soccer played in their final non-conference match of the 2023 season on Wednesday evening at Mary Baldwin, bringing home the win in shutout fashion, 2-0.
With the win, the Saints improve to 4-9-4 on the season ahead of the final stretch of Atlantic East action.
NOTABLE
- Laney Placido notched her first goal of the season in the win.
- Lajdel put her third goal of the season in the back of the net to give the Saints the needed cushion.Â
- Hannah Mockenhaupt earned her fourth shutout of the season in goal for MU, knocking away three saves.
- 23 Saints saw action in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount got on the board early to take command in the match, with Placido sinking the unassisted goal in just the third minute of the match.
- Strong defense from both teams kept the score at 1-0 heading into the half. The Saints managed to outshoot MBU by a pair.Â
- Lajdel found the open look in the 56th minute, sinking her third goal of the year and giving the Saints the insurance they needed.
- Just one shot in the final minutes was all MBU could put up, as the Saints took the win handily to bring home.Â
