STAUNTON, Va. - Marymount women's soccer played in their final non-conference match of the 2023 season on Wednesday evening at Mary Baldwin, bringing home the win in shutout fashion, 2-0.

With the win, the Saints improve to 4-9-4 on the season ahead of the final stretch of Atlantic East action.

NOTABLE

• Laney Placido notched her first goal of the season in the win.
• Lajdel put her third goal of the season in the back of the net to give the Saints the needed cushion. 
• Hannah Mockenhaupt earned her fourth shutout of the season in goal for MU, knocking away three saves.
• 23 Saints saw action in the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Marymount got on the board early to take command in the match, with Placido sinking the unassisted goal in just the third minute of the match.
• Strong defense from both teams kept the score at 1-0 heading into the half. The Saints managed to outshoot MBU by a pair. 
• Lajdel found the open look in the 56th minute, sinking her third goal of the year and giving the Saints the insurance they needed.
• Just one shot in the final minutes was all MBU could put up, as the Saints took the win handily to bring home.

• The Saints come back home this weekend, taking on Marywood this Saturday at 1 PM.
• They will close out the regular season on the road next Wednesday at Neumann.
