Women's Soccer Edges Past Centenary in AEC Action

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - Marymount women's soccer came out on top on the road at Centenary in Atlantic East play on Saturday afternoon, edging out the Cyclones 1-0.

The win gives the Saints a 3-9-4 record overall on the season, 2-1-1 in conference action.

NOTABLE
  • Breanna Harkins notched the game-winnner in the match, her second goal of the season. 
  • Minnie Morris was credited with the assist.
  • Hannah Mockenhaupt earned the win in shutout fashion, knocking away eight saves.
  • The Marymount defense earned their fifth clean sheet of the season, their second in conference play. 
  • Brigid Sullivan had four shots, two on goal, in the winning effort. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Marymount got the offense rolling in the opening minutes of the match, with Sullivan looking to notch the early goal with a shot in the ninth minute, but it sailed just right of the net.
  • Morris and Sullivan each had strong looks in the final minutes of the first half, but both were unable to slot into the goal, sending the game into the half evened up at zero apiece.
  • Harkins came through for the Saints in the 65th minute, finding the pass from Morris and sinking the goal to give MU their needed advantage.
  • One final shot attempt from the Cyclones in the final minutes was all they could muster, as the Saints would hold onto the shutout and earn the key conference win.
UP NEXT
  • Marymount will take a break from conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 18, taking on Mary Baldwin on the road.
  • They will come back to Long Bridge Park next Saturday, taking on Marywood in AEC play at 1 PM.
