ARLINGTON, Va. - Saints men's volleyball picked up their first home win of the 2023 season over Stevenson on Tuesday evening, 3-1.
With the win, MU moves to 3-2 on the young season, winning their last three straight.Â
Notable
- It was Devon Robinson leading the offensive charge for the Saints. The junior racked up 16 kills with a .344 hitting percentage, adding three aces and two block assists, good for 20 total points.
- Hayden Kerekes knocked 12 kills with an impressive .500 hitting percentage in the contest, adding a block and three aces.Â
- Sava Topich had 37 assists on the night with five kills and four digs.Â
- Mason Moore led the blocking on the night with seven total blocks, three solo and four assisted.Â
How It Happened
- The first set was a strong battle between the two teams. A 5-to-2 run, capped off by a kill from Topich, from the Saints gave them a 12-9 lead.
- It was Topich again hitting the deciding kill to take the first set, with Marymount using a 6-to-2 run to finish it out.Â
- With MU attempting to make some comebacks, the Mustangs ultimately took the second set to even up the tally at 1-1.
- The two teams came out to the third set in an intense back-and-forth, but the Saints used a quick four-point spurt to take a strong lead.
- MU ended up running away with the third set, finishing it out with a final score of 25-to-15.
- The fourth set would prove to be the decider, with Stevenson staying on the heels of MU throughout.
- The match-deciding point came from a block off the hands of Moore, sending the Saints to their first win in front of their home crowd on the year.Â
