Men’s Basketball Survives Marywood in OT Thriller

ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount men's basketball survived a late comeback from Marywood to win an overtime thriller on Saturday afternoon, 80-73. The Saints improved to 5-1 in conference play with the victory.

NOTABLE
  • Four Saints scored in double-figures, led by Marcus Beckett with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
  • Jack Bifano recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. He was an impressive 6-of-8 from the field.
  • Marymount outrebounded the Pacers, 45-29.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first half was a dogfight with neither team holding a lead of more than two possessions for the first 15 minutes.
  • A three-pointer from Bryson Hill gave Marymount a seven-point lead with 3:31 left in the first half.
  • The Saints led 35-31 at halftime.
  • Marymount looked in control for most of the second half and led by 10 points with 5:30 left to play.
  • But Marywood responded with six straight field goals to tie the game and send it to overtime, 64-64.
  • In overtime, Marcus Stubbs made back-to-back three-pointers to give the Saints a 75-69 lead with 1:03 left.
  • Marymount went 3-of-4 from the charity stripe In the final minute to ice the 80-73 win.

  • The Saints will travel to face Salisbury on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7 PM.
  • Marymount returns to Converse Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 28 against Cabrini at 4 PM.
