Men's Basketball Picks Up Non-Conference Win at Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. - Marymount men's basketball continued their hot streak Wednesday evening on the road at Salisbury, taking down the Sea Gulls by a final score of 69-to-59.

With the win, the Saints get back over .500 overall at 10-9 on the year.

Notable
  • Marcus Stubbs led the scoring for the Saints, dropping a team-high 19 points in the affair. He went 5-of-10 from beyond the arc while pulling down four boards and dishing three assists.
  • Wyatt Hockenberry dropped 18 on the night, shooting 4-of-9 from three-point range.
  • Isaac Harris was the playmaker in the contest, dishing out eight total assists alongside seven boards and six points.
  • Jack Bifano pulled down seven rebounds for MU.
  • The Saints have won six of their last seven games, pulling out five in a row.
How It Happened
  • The two teams came out of the gate even matched, but back-to-back threes from Stubbs and Hockenberry gave the Saints a 10-to-6 lead at the 14:32 mark.
  • A scoring drought kept the affair close, but four-straight scores from MU, capped off by a jumper from Marcus Beckett, gave the Saints a 17-to-8 lead with under 10 minutes left in the half.
  • A three from Stubbs with under a minute left in the half would finish out the scoring, sending the teams to the locker rooms with Marymount up 36-to-26.
  • Salisbury came out of the half hot, scoring five unanswered to get within five points of the Saints, but Bifano got the scoring going for MU with a driving layup.
  • A jumper from Peja Boyd with under 12 minutes in the second half gave the Saints a 12 point lead.
  • The two teams went back-and-forth the rest of the way, with the second half knotted up in the end at 33 apiece, but the strong first half from the Saints was the difference maker.
Up Next
  • The Saints will get back into conference action this weekend, hosting AEC foe Cabrini in a 4:00 PM contest.
  • MU will hit the road next Wednesday, heading to Gwynedd-Mercy looking to even up the season series.
