CARLISLE, Pa. - The Saints men's basketball team got back to their winning ways on Wednesday evening at Dickinson College by a final tally of 70-66.
Marymount (4-5) used a strong second half to ultimately take the win from the Red Devils (1-7, 0-3 Centennial) behind sharp shooting and a key performance from junior
Marcus Stubbs.Â
Notable
- Stubbs had a game-high 28 points for the Saints, shooting an impressive 11-14 from the floor, 6-8 beyond the arc.Â
- Wyatt Hockenberry had 12 for Marymount, adding three rebounds and three assists, respectively.Â
- Marcus Beckett had 11 off of the bench, swapping away two blocks.Â
- Marymount shot 25-44 from the floor as a team, good for 56.8%.
- From behind the three-point line, the Saints shot an impressive 53.8%.
How It Happened
- Scoring was scarce through the first two minutes of play, but the Saints got on the board first with a three from Stubbs and followed it up with a made jumper from Ra'Shawn Cook to give them the early 5-0 lead.Â
- A key run from the Red Devils put them within one, but it was Stubbs again who sank the contested three to push the momentum back to MU's bench in the early going of the game.Â
- Leads swapped back-and-forth for the remainder of the first half, sending the teams back to their locker rooms with Dickinson holding the advantage 30-to-28.Â
- The two teams continued to trade leads throughout the first portion of the second half, with the Saints looking for the significant play to try to run away with the contest.
- Tied at 52 apiece, Cook sank a jumper at the 7:11 mark, with Stubbs sinking another three shortly after to give the Saints the lead in the waning minutes.
- Marymount didn't look back as the time clicked down, sending them back to Arlington with a much-needed win.Â
