ARLINGTON, Va. – Marymount women's basketball handed Mary Washington its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon with an impressive fourth-quarter run to prevail, 63-53.

NOTABLE

• Symantha Shackelford (20 points) and Chandler Eddleton (17 points) battled foul trouble in the third quarter but proved to be difference-makers down the stretch in the impressive victory.
• Marymount went 25-of-32 from the free-throw line while Mary Washington only mustered a 4-of-8 performance from the charity stripe.
• The back-and-forth affair featured nine ties and 18 lead changes.
• Mary Washington entered the matchup with an 8-0 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Marymount went up 13-8 after one quarter thanks to an Eddleton layup with 19 seconds remaining.
• Both teams traded the lead back-and-forth in the second quarter before MU went into halftime with the lead thanks to two free throws from Anna Schools with 11 seconds remaining.
• Mary Washington led 37-35 after three quarters after Sydney Sherman drained a short jumper with 14 seconds left in the frame.
• The Saints opened the final quarter on an 11-1 run to take control of the game.
• A triple from Shackelford with 41 seconds left gave MU a seven-point lead, which proved insurmountable for the visitors as the Saints went 6-of-6 from the free-throw line down the stretch to ice the win.

• Marymount will face Salisbury on the road on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 12 PM.
• The Saints will return to Converse Family Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1 PM to host Gwynedd-Mercy in conference play.
