ARLINGTON, Va. - The Saints hosted the #24 Eagles of The University of Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon in Converse Family Fieldhouse.
A tough fought, tight battle throughout, the Saints ultimately fell in the game by a final score of 71-to-65 in favor of the visiting Eagles.
Notable
- Wyatt Hockenberry continued his sharp shooting from beyond the arc, finishing the game with 19 total points, going 5-for-8 from three-point range.
- Marcus Stubbs dropped 16 in the game, going 5-for-9 from the field, adding six rebounds and two steals.
- Ra'Shawn Cook had 11 total points, also dishing out four assists.
- Marymount shot an impressive 89.5% from the charity stripe.
- Jack Farrelly had seven points and rebounds apiece in the affair.
How It Happened
- With the Eagles jumping out to a quick 5-0 lead, Hockenberry started his strong offensive day by putting the Saints on the board for the first time with a three at the 17 minute mark.
- Cook dropped a three with just over eight minutes left in the first half to give the Saints some life heading down the first half stretch.
- The Saints put forth a strong run, and with a made jumper from Farrelly, Marymount grabbed their first lead of the day with minutes left in the first half of play.
- The contest went into the half all evened up at 31 apiece.
- Mary Washington came out the gates of the second half hot and found themselves with a nine-point lead before back-to-back scoring plays from Stubbs put the Saints back into business at 47-to-43.
- With just over 10 minutes left in the contest, Hockenberry sank a contested three, drawing the foul and converting the and-one to keep momentum on the Saints' side.
- Mary Washington took advantage down the stretch, finishing out the well-fought win.
